I awoke in a jolt, my screams tearing through the quiet of the room. The memory of the blood-soaked labyrinth, the creature's savage attacks, and Aurora's chilling betrayal still clung to my mind like a nightmarish shroud. My back seared with a fiery pain, and I clutched the sheets tightly, struggling to contain my cries.

Before I could fully comprehend what was happening, Pan was there, his presence a reassuring presence in the midst of my agony. With nimble fingers, he swiftly and almost urgently started to undo the buttons of my dress, exposing the raw, mangled flesh on my back to the cool air. I winced as the fabric peeled away, revealing the gruesome aftermath of my encounter with the Blood Beast.

Pan's voice carried a note of urgency as he called out for the castle's healers. His fingers, usually so confident and assured, hovered over my wounds with a mixture of care and trepidation.

As the healers arrived, they meticulously inspected my injuries, their hushed conversations a blur as I lay there, caught between a hazy consciousness and the realms of pain and relief. The chilling echo of the labyrinth was slowly fading, replaced by the gentle ministrations of the healers and the presence of the Fae Prince who had become an unexpected guardian in the darkest of hours.

Pan's eyes were a tempest of fury and concern as he watched the healers work diligently to assess my wounds. The tension in the room was palpable as he leaned closer, his voice betraying the anguish he tried to conceal. "What's wrong with her?"

The head healer, an older Fae with a face etched with experience, gently replied, "It seems she was poisoned, Your Highness. The marks on her back suggest that the Blood Beast's claws might have been tainted with venom."

Pan's rage ignited, a storm within him that threatened to spill over. He was pacing now, a caged predator unable to contain his frustration. "What kind of poison, Milla?" he demanded.

The healer hesitated, her expression grave. "I cannot be certain,” she said. “The toxins in the mortal realm are different from those in our realm. Without knowledge of the specific venom used, we might not find the right antidote."

Pan's frustration was unmistakable as he clenched his fists, knuckles white with tension. He turned to face the bed where I lay, pale and still, my life hanging in the balance. "Find it,” he whispered. “Do whatever it takes."

Milla nodded and signaled for the others to intensify their efforts, realizing the gravity of the situation. As they scurried to gather supplies and consult ancient texts, Pan's fierce determination was my only hope. The room buzzed with urgency, every second that passed threatening to seal my fate.

“Porley!” Pan called. “Bring the duchess to me at once. I have more questions for her.”

Pan's voice was laced with a command that sent Porley dashing out of the room, leaving a turbulent whirl of apprehension in his wake.

"What do you need from me?" Pan asked, his hand gripping my shoulder as if to anchor himself to the reality of the situation.
